AI-Assisted Image Accessibility Review

AI & editorial review

I designed and delivered a workflow to identify missing or unusable alt text and generate suggested descriptions for more than 16,000 images. It combined image analysis, article context, and editorial guidance. Editors used the production Google Sheets/WordPress workflow to review, revise, and publish descriptions under the publisher's content policy and accessibility requirements.

Print Subscription Operations Automation

Automation & data integrity

I designed and operated automation for approximately 5,500 print subscriptions. Using subscriber purchase history, the workflow prevented repeat charges for issues already purchased and coordinated each magazine release with renewal dates and customer notifications.

I used AI-assisted Python development, Shopify GraphQL, and Recharge REST APIs to carry out bulk updates, with preflight checks and independent reconciliation of subscription records and queued charges. I documented the process for project handoff.

AI-Assisted Assignment and SOW Preparation

Structured AI workflows

I built a Google Docs tool that extracts assignment details from email, chat, and other source text into a structured draft for statements of work. It flags missing information and keeps review within the editorial team's existing document workflow. Staff use it regularly, and I estimate it saves about 30 minutes of preparation per use. Staff retain responsibility for the final agreement.

Workspace Access Review and Cleanup

Access controls & owner review

I reviewed Google's data-protection findings from a 5.8-million-file scan and used Python and the Google Drive API to audit shared-drive permissions for stale external access and overly broad sharing. I traced inherited permissions to the folders or drives where access was granted and consolidated the findings into a manageable Google Sheets review for business owners. I applied approved changes with checks before each write, blocked mismatches, and independently verified changes and retained access.

Archival Migration and Recovery Automation

Data migration & recovery

I designed and managed a workflow to move a large, business critical data archive from physical drives and optical media into team-accessible cloud storage. I used AI to coordinate file analysis, transfer scripts, monitoring, and recovery from interruptions. The workflow accounted for destination storage transfer limitations and recorded progress so interrupted transfers would resume without starting over. Checksums verified the copied files.

Business Card OCR and AI-Assisted Contact Ingestion

OCR & structured contact data

I designed and deployed a web app that turns business-card photos, contact screenshots, and typed or dictated notes into standardized contact records. The goal was to let staff contribute contacts and useful context in one accessible interface. I combined OCR and AI-assisted field extraction in a Google Apps Script web app, with manual entry and a link to review or correct each saved record. I refined the tool through staff feedback, including fixes for model-response parsing bugs and various edge case categories.

Email Platform Migration

Subscriber data & sending continuity

I led the Email Service Provider technical migration from Campaign Monitor to MailChimp for a publishing business with approximately 500,000 subscriber records. I transformed contact data, mapped newsletter preferences and engagement groups, and filtered records according to business requirements.

Working with the publishing team and platform specialists, I coordinated domain authentication and a phased transition that kept newsletters running across both systems. We gradually transitioned sending volume between ESPs (sender warm-up) while monitoring delivery results to protect sender reputation and reduce the risk of spam filtering or delivery delays. I also migrated existing website signup forms, created a suite of forms, each with custom signup automation logic.

How I work

I start with interviews to understand current processes, constraints, and unmet needs, then work with stakeholders to define the requirements. From there, I develop a proof of concept and refine it through testing and feedback.

I choose models and services based on the task, cost, data sensitivity, and available infrastructure, including self-hosted models when third-party processing isn't appropriate. My background includes more than two decades in enterprise technology and technical operations. My consulting work spans business decisions, implementation, training, and ongoing support.

Community work

Emergency preparedness & communications

Santa Cruz County CERT

Webmaster ยท Community Emergency Response Team

I maintain the Santa Cruz County CERT website and training calendar. I use an AI-assisted workflow that identifies update requests received through email, reviews the current published information state through WordPress GraphQL, and prepares a change plan for my review. Changes are posted to a staging environment for stakeholder approval before publication. I work with existing program administrators to use the automation processes I designed for them.

Santa Cruz County ARES

Disaster Service Worker & radio communications

I'm a Disaster Service Worker (DSW) and active member of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), supporting auxiliary radio communications for emergency preparedness, public service events, and community activities. I participate in training nets, field exercises, and communications support operations involving message handling and coordination.
